When you are in the business of helping people recover, you not only have to focus on the needs of your clients; you also have to concentrate on the needs of your business. Too often, recovery businesses do not put enough focus into the online practices that will make them successful. They believe that flashy websites and over-reaching promises are the solutions to their business problems. At Consumers’ Interest, we understand it is much more than that, and instead dig deeper to reduce your bottom line and make your phones ring.
For recovery centers, big and small, Consumer’s Interest is there to help support your current marketing efforts with expert strategies, highly focused analytics, and over 15 years of in-depth industry expertise. We are in the business of making your business better, by generating more quality phone calls that convert into more people that can be helped.
A Passion for Process Improvement
Since its inception in the mid-1980s, Consumer’s Interest has been focused on creative business process solutions. At that time, it was a youth work program based upon the subscription-based revenue models of American Music Company. Working with young entrepreneurs, founder Tod Cunningham taught valuable business development skills while also adding a new revenue generating model. This began a tradition of dedication to the improvement of business processes.
Decades of Data Experience
Although his early ventures were successful, Cunningham pursued other interests in the military and at part-time jobs. During this period, he recognized a use for technology in business processes. In what would be considered dated technology by today’s standards, Cunningham tested his theory when faced with the challenge of archiving massive amounts of business data for an architectural design firm. In the mid-1990’s Cunningham proposed digital archiving on 3.5 floppy diskettes as a way of quickly accessing product details, there by shortening the sales funnel. Since that time, developing innovative uses of technology for businesses has been Consumer Interest’s standard operating procedure.
This level of business innovation continued to help Consumer’s Interest grow. Within little time, Consumer’s Interest was working with organizations such as Nordstrom’s, Perigee Design and even the Seattle Space Needle on their database management solutions and websites. By the late 1990s, they added internet marketing to its expertise.
A Deep Background in the Recovery Industry
As many are aware, the early 2000s brought about instability in the technology industry. As a result, many of Consumer Interest’s clients faced economic challenges or even went out of business. Owner Tod Cunningham took this time to follow a renewed interest in his faith and volunteering as well as spending some much needed time with his young family. After experiencing the pain of witnessing a loved one tackle drug abuse, he quickly became a leader in his church, working as a prevention specialist. He later became an active voice for the faith-based recovery program community.
As a volunteer, Cunningham collaborated with We Care America, (a faith-based nonprofit dedicated to Christian recovery and created by Pres George W. Bush) advocating on behalf of Christian based recovery therapies. In very little time, he became known as a leader in the industry and was soon the Vice President of Pacific Hills Treatment Center, located in San Diego, California.
Dedicated to Improvement
When Todd Cunningham met Jocelyn Whitfield, of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, his involvement in the recovery industry went from volunteer to professional. As the Vice President of a Christian-based recovery center, he was empowered to do even more. He used this opportunity to combine all of his expertise within Consumer’s Interest with the in-depth knowledge he had gained while volunteering on a national level.
While at Pacific Hills, Cunningham remained dedicated to transforming the struggling organization into a thriving for-profit treatment center. In 10 years’ time, Cunningham fulfilled his mission and in 2013 resigned from Pacific Hills to pursue more time with his family. He now lives in Montana with his family where he runs Consumer’s Interest.
